Happy Friday! It’s time for another installment in Frisky Friday Flash Fiction. You know the drill. I provide a picture and the first lines of a 300 word story. I’ll post the remainder next week.
This week is another installment in the WIP Fear Her:
Fear Her | Part III
“Something wrong?” Ryan asks over the rim of his glass.
“No,” I lie.
Remembering my conversation with Elias, how could I tell him the truth?
“Is this going to be a problem, Sable?”
Feigning surprise I replied, “No. Why would you think that?”
“Upon opening the file, you hesitated.”
From the first moment I met Elias I hated him. Now that he’s targeted Ryan, I hate him even more—if that’s possible. “I assure you, Ryan Peters won’t be a problem for you much longer.”
I’ve always kept my word, and I’ll keep this promise too. As soon as I figure out how to kill Elias.
Ryan grabs the bottle of Jack off the shabby, motel dresser. He pours a generous portion before offering me the bottle. Waving my hand in the air, I decline. The last thing I need is muddled thinking. Instead I slide out of bed and slip into my jeans.
“It’s late. I’ve got work to do.”
“Anyone I know?”
Buttoning my blouse I say, “I don’t think so.”
The man I’ve been sleeping with for over a year leans his firm ass against the furniture. Glancing down at his glass, he swirls the liquid around before saying, “If I didn’t know better, I’d think you were lying to me. But we don’t do that. We’ve always been honest with each other.”
Not at the moment.
“Sable…” Ryan grabs my arm before I can strap on my Glock. “Be straight with me. I know you met with Moore. What happened?”
I shrug off Ryan’s hand, check my pistol, and shove it into the holster. “Nothing. I got my assignment. I have a week to complete it, but I’m giving the money back. I can’t do it.”
“He wants me to kill you.”
Stay tuned for more next week…
