Dirty Ink was a first read for me by this author. I must say I enjoyed it! There’s a story here, not just a lot of graphic details.
If you’re a fan of 50 Shades, this MAY NOT be the book for you. Yes, it’s BDSM. But what it’s not is a story where Girl sees Boy, they hop into bed, and he immediately introduces her to the lifestyle. The girl in the story has heart. You get the idea that a lot has happened to Brielle. We start out with her douche of a boyfriend and their prompt breakup. Enter an unlikely guy, Hudson. He’s not hiding behind a suit and tie. He’s not dealing with some sordid life issues that turned him to the lifestyle. Hudson is just a man who knows what he likes. Period.
I love how K. Renee leads up to their relationship. Nothing’s instant. Sure, there’s attraction. Without it, why bother. But Hudson fights his growing attraction, and Brielle does a good job of trying not to think about him. Eventually, they do meet up and what happens is short of fireworks.
Just when things are bound to get steamy, K. Renee flips the script and introduces some intrigue. There’s a stalker. Breadcrumbs are allover this story. By the end of the book, you think you’re about to learn who the stalker is and you’re met with a cliffhanger.
I don’t have a problem with cliffhangers. In this case, I quickly hit the one-click button on Amazon for book two.
K. Renee has done a great job introducing developed characters and a real story that just happens to include BDSM. If you remove that element, you’d still have a story worth reading.
I highly recommend Dirty Ink to anyone who doesn’t have an issue with a little graphic detail in their romance.
